Fussy eaters

Fussy eaters can ruin the festive season for mothers. Here’s some help at hand
1. Disguise healthy food and win their approval: Roti dough is a great way to sneak in some health – mashed soya, cokked green or root veggies, dahi, paneer, boiled fish (the bland variety)...

2. Start children early on good habits: Mothers worldwide feed their babies mashed bananas as the first mouthful. Experts now believe that leads to development of a sweet tooth in children – mashed potatoes without added salt are a better bet.

3. Reel them in with fish: Replace chicken patties with fish cakes and your child gets essential omega 3 fatty acids that feed the brain...

4. Serve veggies – in a cream soup: Children’s aversion to veggies is often due to texture. Smoothen things out by pureeing veggies into soups.

5. Think fruit, not butter, for baking: Bake your own cookies and cakes and replace half of the butter or shortening with applesauce, mashed bananas or pumpkin puree.
